Inside, the LUXE-X blends comfort with clever design: a premium three-layer mattress, marine-grade gas struts, and an integrated 12 V power and lighting system for off-grid convenience. The optional ladder cover annex creates a fully sheltered entry, a feature rarely found in hard shell tents.

The LUX-X aluminum hard shell rooftop tent is built to perform in New Zealand’s most rugged conditions, combining strength, comfort, and innovation in our highest-spec tent yet.

The outer aluminum hard shells are constructed from custom honeycomb panels with four internal reinforcement braces for added strength. All shell components are finished with an industrial-grade Dulux® powder coating system, and Sikaflex® sealers are applied to all joints for superior anti-corrosion and UV protection. An automotive-grade weather seal helps keep the elements out, while underfloor vent panels maintain continuous airflow—even when the tent is closed. T-slot channels run the entire perimeter, allowing you to securely mount the Fantail Awnings.

All hardware is CNC-machined and anodised aluminum, including our own lockable, adjustable seal pressure latches. The tent uses 316 marine-grade gas struts rated at 500N for reliable operation in high winds, optional gas strut locks are also available for additional security.

A full-length roof T-slot extrusion allows for mounting our optional solar panels and roof racks. Internally, the tent features built-in power and lighting, with a switch panel that includes USB, Type C, and cig sockets. The power cable connects via Anderson plug, and can be adapted to various power sources such as phone banks. The switch panel is positioned near the main entrance for easy access and includes a built-in fabric cover to block light while sleeping. A 12V 3-speed airflow fan is included, with a high-mounted design to push or pull air in and out—helping reduce condensation during colder nights.

Each tent includes 4 anti-condensation packs.
A full 12V and solar power kit is also available, along with compact 270W roof-mounted solar panels designed to save space. These plug-and-play systems provide solar out and 12V power in, with optional base plugs and Anderson wiring kits.

The main tent body is constructed from breathable blackout 300GSM polycotton, with a built-in skylight for natural light, airflow, and stargazing. All windows, doors and the skylight are fitted with insect mesh. The side windows feature a convenient one-zip drop system that opens both mesh and solid fabric in a single motion. A built-in heater duct each side is included—ideal for winter camping or drying out the tent after use.

Inside, there are storage pockets at the rear, front and sides, along with an external shoe pocket. The outer rainfly is made from 600D polyester in a light grey finish to reduce interior heat and includes roll-up or removable window awnings. The tent is fully annex compatible using the optional 3-sided annex, which provides ladder cover and extra shelter. It can also be converted into a large awning with tent poles.

Sleep comfort is a top priority, and the LUXE-X delivers with a triple-layer mattress system: 40mm high-density base foam, topped with 20mm memory foam, and placed over a 10mm anti-condensation mat. The mattress comes with a soft, plush top cover that’s machine washable and finished with a waterproof base and sides.

The telescopic ladder extends to 2.3m and features wide, comfort-focused rungs for barefoot use. It collapses with a simple one-click action for fast, easy pack-down. It also includes a tough waterproof travel cover and our handy sand brush to clean the ladder and your feet before climbing in. A 2.6m ladder is available for taller vehicles.
