And it doesn’t stop there, our fully equipped mechanical workshop handles everything from suspension upgrades and brakes to snorkels and everything in between. Whatever your vehicle needs, we’ve got the tools and the know-how to keep it running smoothly.
Custom Builds
Whether you need a small upgrade or a full overland fit-out, we’ve got it covered. From rooftop tents and awnings to electrical systems, storage, water, lighting, and complete touring builds — we handle as much or as little as you need.
It starts with a conversation. We meet with you (and your vehicle) to understand how you travel and what you want to achieve. Ideally this happens at our Christchurch workshop, but we can start the process by phone or online.
We’ll talk through options, provide indicative pricing, measure your vehicle, and develop a tailored concept. Once you’re happy, we can create an interactive 3D design so you can see the build before fabrication and fine-tune any final details.
From there, we manage the entire process — sourcing, fabrication, installation, and finishing touches — all completed at our Christchurch base.

Electrical Systems
Power is what turns a good setup into a great one. We design and install complete 12V and 240V electrical systems so your vehicle works wherever you park it.
From simple battery setups running a fridge and camp lights, through to fully integrated touring systems with lithium batteries, inverters, solar and vehicle DC-DC charging — we build electrical systems that are safe, reliable, and built to last.
We proudly supply and install Redarc systems, along with other proven brands where the build requires it. Every setup is tailored to how you travel. Need to run an induction cooktop? Coffee machine? Starlink? No problem. We design the system properly from the start so you’re not chasing upgrades later.
If it needs power, we’ll make it work — so you can camp comfortably without compromise.
Roof Conversions and Campers
At The Garage Project, we install Alu-Cab roof conversions, canopy campers and ModCAP campers. We take care of the certification for the roof conversions for you.
All structural work is completed and certified correctly, protecting your vehicle's compliance and warranty on the installed product.
Drive in with a standard vehicle. Drive out with a professionally converted camper, fully certified and ready to travel.
Installation Services
We install all roof top tents and awnings we sell. We can also sort out roof racks and advise you on the setup to suit your vehicle.

Self Containment Certification
We are able to certify vehicles as self contained.
At The Garage Project, we design and install compliant self-containment systems specifically for touring 4WDs. Properly integrated water storage, plumbing, waste solutions and layout design that work with your vehicle.
Whether you’re upgrading an existing setup to meet certification requirements or building a full overland fit-out from scratch, we take care of the details.
